When I first started making soaps for Grizzly Bars, coffee was one of those ingredients that instantly stood out. It wasn’t just the rich aroma — it was the texture, the feel, and the way it left your skin clean but never stripped. People loved it. In fact, the original coffee scrub bar became one of our earliest bestsellers.
Over time though, as Grizzly Bars grew, we found ourselves experimenting with all kinds of scents and blends — from earthy clays to citrus bursts and smoky woods. The coffee bars stayed close to our hearts, but they became one product among many. And quietly, I started to feel that coffee soaps deserved something more.
Why Coffee Soap Still Matters
Coffee grounds are one of nature’s most underrated ingredients. They’re a gentle exfoliant, removing dead skin cells without microplastics. They help neutralize odours, making them ideal for anyone who works with their hands or spends time outdoors. And when used fresh, they even carry antioxidants that can benefit your skin.
What really got me thinking again, though, was sustainability. Every day, millions of kilos of used coffee grounds go to waste. Around the same time, I began working with local cafés and roasters who were eager to repurpose their waste grounds — and suddenly, the idea clicked.
Why not give coffee soap its own platform again — built around the circular idea of turning waste into wellness?
Introducing Soapee
That’s how Soapee.co.uk was born — a sister brand to Grizzly Bars, but with its own identity and focus.
Soapee is dedicated entirely to coffee-based soaps, scrubs, and skincare. Every bar starts with upcycled coffee grounds from local cafés and roasters, blended with plant-based oils and natural butters.
While Grizzly Bars continues to explore bold scent combinations and rugged designs, Soapee is all about refinement — smaller batches, subtle aromas, and a sustainable cycle that connects your morning coffee to your daily skincare.
It’s been exciting to start fresh: to experiment with caffeine-infused oils, roasted bean extracts, and blends that smell like your favourite brew.
A New Chapter — But the Same Craft
Launching Soapee doesn’t mean leaving Grizzly Bars behind. In fact, it’s the opposite. Everything I’ve learned from Grizzly — from curing techniques to sustainable packaging — has shaped what Soapee is becoming.
You could say Soapee is the calm, minimal sibling to Grizzly’s bold and adventurous personality. Both share the same heart: handcrafted quality, simple ingredients, and respect for the planet.

In the end, I brought coffee soap back as its own brand because it deserved space to grow. It’s not just a niche product — it’s a story about sustainability, craftsmanship, and second chances.
